Our Livestock

We are the proud owners of Gibbet Hill Cattle Company, our own Registered Angus Beef operation located in Groton.  This is in addition to other fantastic animals, including chickens, pigs, sheep, and goats that we raise on our own land right behind the farm stand.  Because many people are beginning to become aware of the inhumane choices and lack of care in the mass-produced meat industry, we are proud to be able to raise our animals in the proper environment. 

Raising meat naturally is better for the livestock, better for the environment, and better for the consumer.  Our family does not believe in feed lots or industrialized slaughterhouses.  Our animals live happy, clean lives with plenty of green grass grown on untreated pastures, clean water, abundant shade, sunshine, and plenty of room to roam as they please.  They are treated with pride, dignity, and respect from the day they are born until they day they leave. 

You have the comfort and security of knowing where your food came from, what it went through to reach your plate, and the folks that handled it from start to finish.

In the fall we process Thanksgiving Turkeys (avg. 18-24lbs each) that are available fresh the few days before the holiday.   Throughout the season we also process chickens (avg. 6-8lbs each) approximately once a month.   We are glad to announce our fresh chicken harvest dates for 2013 below.  You can reserve a bird by visiting the farm stand to pay your deposit and save your spot!  (Please note we only accept reservations in person, we will not take phone or email orders for them.)

2013 Chicken Harvests:

(All occur on Saturdays between 3:30PM-6:00PM)

Sold out dates: May 18th, June 1st, June 29th

​ Available dates: July 27th, August 24th, September 21st, October 19th, December 7th 



Lastly, we offer half and whole side beef and pork purchases with proper advance notice.  If you're interested simply let us know.  Sides are a wonderful investment for families looking to enjoy locally raised meats "from tail to snout" and may want to divide it up with other families.  Reach out to our Livestock Manager, Paula, for more details at paula@springdellfarms.com.
